Welcome Welcome Welcome
Welcome to the OOK blog! I recently graduated college from The George Washington University and immediately began working at OOK. My official title is “Assistant Director of Online Operations”…but what’s in a name? Basically what I do is help manage the OOK website (check it!), connect with the online community through Facebook (like it!) and Twitter (follow it!), and organize possible sponsorships and promote young artist throughout the US (my personal favorite). The OOK slogan is “Supporting the Arts since 1964” (Get it - because picture hangers physically support the arts AND we support the arts movement through sponsorships. So clever!)
I must say that before I got here I really didn’t know much about hardware and specifically picture hangers. In college I just used anything that would stick to the wall. Double sided tape, glue, Velcro, bubble gum; otherwise my walls were bare for the most part. Not to mention that when I left I would have to scrape every piece of tape off the wall, and cover up any holes I made with white toothpaste (that usually fools the RA). But then…the skies opened and the world turned because guess what? There really is a way to hang your favorite pictures, posters, and high school memories without having to pay for the damage! Miracles do happen.
I think the biggest problem with hardware is the general lack of knowledge. Not just college kids (excuse me…young adults), but everyone. It really is easy to choose which hanger you need, which size, and where to hang it.
So worry no more! I am here to help! Now that I have acquired the knowledge I am going to send it out to you with the help of this new fangled thing called the Internet.
Feel free to ask questions, post pictures, and make comments! I am here to help because I wish someone were around to help me!
Happy Cinco De Mayo! (If you bang into any walls with pictures hung by OOKs they wont fall – that’s just how strong they are!)
Til’ next time,
Janine
